If my friends have a strong preference, I let them decide - the ones I usually see movies with like to sit at the very back. Otherwise, I like to sit in the very middle since the screen is at a perfect angle and the sound usually isn't garbled even when you're in a bad theater.

The little theater we go to has a balcony above the other seats so we try to grab some seats up there first, preferably the very first row so I can see without having to worry about someone's head in my eye path the whole time.
