With holiday shopping coming up, it is TV buying time again. I am STILL torn...PLASMA vs LED. Anyone care to share REAL experience?

Full LED backlit Samsung appears to be my BEST choice. 240 refresh rate 1080p.

HOWEVER, I still hear techies in the stores saying the "best colors, sharpness" etc, are STILL with PLASMA...as well as viewing angle.

If you own one or both, what is YOUR real world opinion?

ALSO, if you have plasma, does not not HEAT UP the room like a radiator? We have some at work, for INFO screens and the tiny rooms they are in get BLISTERING hot. You can FEEL the heat come off those sets. Isn't that a problem???

Thanks

We have an LED and really like it. My darling told me not to go plasma, its not worth the savings. We waited until Cyber monday and snagged a great deal for about 400$
Best video game investment ever!

Jr made a post about this the other day. Led is the way to go i said. We have a wifi vizio which is led. It makes movie watching a whole new experience. Were in the movie industry so how it looks when we pop in a bluray is a big deal. So many people have problems with plasma that its not even worth it.

We have a Vizio 42" LED tv and love it. We got it for about $700( including the warranty). Haven't had any problems so far(fingers crossed) We got it because out other 40 something inch tv's color wheel died and it wasn't worth it to send it out to the shop.

I have a Vizio LED, I love it, only issue is the thing sometimes "crashes" and the Vizio logo flashes white and orange for a few minutes. So I would go with a different brand.

Plasma is better black unless you get full panel LED, sidelight LED is really just a gimick compare to the florescent side lighting.

My choice of LED lit LCD v. Plasma came down to two things. 1) the LCD based technology with a mat screen is better for direct sunlight and glare. 2) Plasmas can NEVER be laid flat or risk the panel cracking, for me moving it home from the store required laying it flat and then the fact that I would be moving again in a couple years I figured the LCD was better. There is also so debate of which is better movie v. computer screen/video game.

The flashing is actually the tv updating. I looked into it when we got ours. Its because its is wifi, but I agree at times it can be really annoying.

My 58" Plasma looks incredible and it does NOT heat up like older Plasmas. The newer units also use considerably less power than those produced just a few years ago.

I have a 42 inch plasma hanging in my bedroom. I have never noticed it heating up the room. It has also outlasted my more expensive sony LCD. I have to get a new one for the family room, and will most likely go with another plasma.
