With my student loans foremost in my mind upon reading this, if there was an extra zero tacked on to those numbers this would be a much harder question. It would be agony to pick 50,000 and only to be able to use it frivolously, while not being allowed to pay them off and still have a nice chunk of money left over. 10,000 however, would take a large percentage out of them and it wouldn't count as saving or investing.

Being what it is, 1,000 would be helpful, but it wouldn't make much of a dent. Therefore I'd probably be selfish and pick the 5,000. I know I could certainly find ways to spend it.

That's not an easy choice! I think it would depend on my mood when I answered that question. I've changed my mind five times already!

I'd take the 5K. That way, the money I earn can go towards bills and food, etc.

I'd probably have to go with the $1000! I don't think I'd know how to spend $5000 with those limits. Lol. Couldn't do it and not use some of it for other people and bills. LOL.

$5000.00.

Could foods really be considered a necessity if it's all on foods you would never normally buy? (e.g., the $20.00/lb steak, the scallops, the lobsters..) It would be so delicious...

But even if those didn't count, I'd so be able to find stuff to buy. Hello, Squildo. Hello, Bad Dragon Tentacles. Hello, grain mill. Hello, Doc Martens. Hello, fabric.
