This article from cracked actually had me cheering! And, you know, laughing.

I know, Sam usually does the cracked thing, but I felt especially keen on this, since I knew all of these, and didn't feel like an idiot when reading one of their articles, for once - since I wrote an ebook novella on Henry Morgan earlier in the year, and had researched this extensively.

What a GREAT site and link. THANK YOU!!!!! I love HISTORY FACTS.

Pirates are FULL of myths. The very DEFINITION of Pirate changes and changed depending on when, where and WHO was making the call. Often one nations NAVY was another nations "pirates", and often "Pirates" were wealthy and educated sailors working as mercenaries or in direct employment of one "crown" to harass and destroy the shipping of another, competitive "crown". Some famous pirates of long ago had mansions and villas in the nations they were serving!!!
