anything you wish you had stuck w/?

I wish more than just about anything that I had stuck w/ dance when I was young. I took 3 yrs of tap & a yr of jazz. I did pretty well & always picked up on everything pretty quickly. I have a really good sense of rhythm. I wish I had done more w/ it, like ballet. My 1st yr of tap was a mixed class of tap & ballet. I would love to be able to do ballet, hip hop, contemporary, ballroom, latin, pretty much all of it. I love watching dancers. I can sit forever & watch them dance. I would love to take lessons now, but I just don't have the money or time. Is there anything that you used to do that you wish you had stuck w/.

Yes! Piano lessons! As embarrassing as this is going to be to say... The reason I ended up dropping out when I was little was because I still couldn't differentiate which is my right hand and which was my left and once we got into the lessons where I had to use both hands, the instructor got really mad and mean to me because I didn't know which was my left and which was my right. I guess it frustrated her or something so I cried and told my mom I never wanted to go back lol...

Why did you end up not sticking with dance when you were younger? You never really said why you stopped?

the two regrets I have in my adult life are quitting the Bassoon in high school (nerd!) and quitting horseback riding at age 13ish. Marching and symphonic bands still move me to tears in a good way....and i've been riding a few times now recently. I think I'm going to try picking the riding back up- and I would encourage others to try to pick things up again too!

i didn't like it. i didn't want to put in the effort. my jazz teacher was a total bitch, but my tap teacher was really nice. i don't think i was ready for it then, i was only 8 when i started. i just wish i had sucked it up & taken private lessons or something. i love to dance w/ my dad & stuff, so i kind of wish they had also pushed me more. the rule in our house was that we had to finish out the season or yr. the teachers weren't the very best either. they were very good, but not beautifully fantastic.

It's never too late to start again, folks!

That said, I wish I still sang constantly/every day. I'm getting over it slowly, and love it when I have opportunities to sing.

I wish I had the chance to continue gymnastics. I say that everyday! Lol. I still do some of my old routines and try to keep myself up so I don't ever 'lost it' but my instructor completely quit on us years ago and I had no choice. We don't have anything for gymnasts any where near me. I just try to keep myself from getting rusty because as soon as something opens up for gymnast competitions around here, I'll be there! Lol. Yesterday I done a few brushing ups on my old routines and we had taken our youngest, 11 year old fishing. He likes to brag about my being a gymnast lol. Makes me feel great so that motivates me to keep at it and he saw me doing a few things and I heard him say "WOW! SHE'S STILL GOT IT!" Lol. I thought that was so funny. Anyways, ever since I was 5 years old and was one day practicing for a competition, I asked this woman why she wouldn't show me her cartwheel and she said she was too old, she couldn't do one anymore. She was in her early 30's at that time, and ever since that day I've promised myself I will never say that. I will never let myself go in this area unless it's brought on by an illness or being terribly old, but 30 is very young! I just hope I'll stick to my promise to at least keep up with the basics. I have so far! I admit, sometimes my legs will be sore and I'm not as good as I used to be, but I can still do everything I did then, except a back handspring. I gave up on those for good after a bad injury in my neck

I wish I had continued with the piano. I can play, just not as well as I once could. Oh, and I used to do some martial arts. Back then I thought it looked snazzy, but gave it up after a while. Now I know more about the philosophical aspects, I would appreciate it more.

I wish I'd been able to keep dancing as well. I danced (ballet, tap, jazz, some lyrical, and summer 'combo' classes) from the time I was 5 until I was 13. I didn't stop by choice though, I destroyed the majority of the ligament structure in my right ankle and then 5 months later did the EXACT same thing to my left ankle. It could've been (and honestly SHOULD have been) surgically repaired but the process at the time would've taken years between surgeries, healing, and rehab. So that was the end of my dancing and my running track

Ice skating is something I wish I had stuck with. I had a natural talent for it that could have really been cultivated. Gymnastics is another thing I wish I had picked up.

swimming. I was pretty fast and went to state championships for a few years in a row. I just grew tired of going to practice. took up all my free time.

I wish I stuck with language learning. I dropped French in high school as soon as it was no longer required, and I didn't pursue Spanish into Uni. I could be fluent by now! Sigh.

Yeah, I have trouble playing with both hands, too! I learned on a tiny, children's piano that had about twenty-thirty keys, so I had to learn really simplistic, one handed songs. When I got a newer, bigger one, my left hand didn't know what to do with itself!

After my daughter took and kept up with piano, I realized I wish I had stayed with lessons beyond the TEN I took. She will enjoy it for life. I cannot belt out chopsticks. Sure it is "never to late to learn"...but who has time????

Gracious...I guess my "piano" response was NOT the only one by far. I always answer, then read others, so my answer is not "swayed".
