I'm an extrovert by nature but my husband is an introvert so I'm stuck inside all the time because he doesn't want to go out and do anything. Doesn't like if we have company over, etc. So basically I'm forced to live an introverted life even though I'm extroverted.

Shy people fear being judged by people for some, most, or all of their actions and it causes them to avoid putting themselves in the spotlight.
Introverted people are literally exhausted after dealing with people for a short period of time which causes them to avoid large crowds, or intimate settings where they have to be "on the ball" as host/hostess. Introverts often have a very small social circle and do things like cancel commitments because they just don't have the energy to deal with people right then and there.
In the most extreme sense, think of it like this:
Introverts = recluse
Shy = wallflower

I get quite introverted around strangers, and it takes a long time for me to become fully comfortable with someone.

I'm introverted, unless I'm in a very comfortable situation. Like hanging out with close friends, or if I'm teaching someone something in an area that I have a lot of knowledge in.
