So recently my first ever boyfriend (from high school) has been sending me e-mails and messages on MSN as a friendly gesture. To be honest, I find him very repulsive. Our break up was pretty bad. He was an asshole while we were together. I was really in love back then. For two years I imagined running away to an island with him and live there happily ever after.

Anyways, few years went by, he seemed more and more like an asshole. When I look back, I realize how naïve I was. I don't think I can ever feel any affection toward him every again. What about you? Are you still with your first love? Are you still in love with him/her?

I was like you - my first love was a total ass but I was too young, naive, and ga-ga over him to see it. Best thing I ever did was leaving him but apparently a decade later he's still kicking himself for it because he just tried to contact me on facebook last week. Sucks for him!

My first real love and i were together for about 3 1/2 years. its been about 4 years since we broke up and i must say i love him but in a different way then i used to. i love him and wish him the best but i will never be IN love with him again. the problem is that people change and not always for the better, which is why you follow your heart and make decisions right for you.

Oh, that idiot - I thought you were talking about the more recent one. I still stand by what I said.

As for my first love and all, it was never reciprocated on the level I wanted. He loved me as a soul sister, and I wanted more than that from him, so it drove him off. That was eighteen years ago.

He contacted me last year on FB. He and his boyfriend are doing very well and are very happy, and I found myself relieved that it wasn't totally me that was repulsive, he just had different tastes (and wasn't owning up to them back in the day). So, that burning candle's been snuffed gently.

No... he still is important to me, since we spent almost all of our teen years together and did so much together, and I do definitely care about him, but he was a complete fucking miserable asshole to me the last year and a half of our relationship. We haven't spoken since we broke up.

Heh. I fell in love with my first love's best friend. That helped me move on right quick.

I'm good friends with my first love, but it took a long time before we could really be friends again. Many huge fights too.

And I'm happily in love with my second love.
