Belly Button Lint

I like to ponder the more simple things in life from time to time, and this one has me stumped! Where the hell does it come from? Why doesn't it show up on other body parts (i.e. - under your arms, on chest, etc.) I just don't get it. Does anyone know? Also, is this a guy thing or does the same happen to you females out there?

I think the only time I've ever had belly button lint was when I was wearing a brand new shirt that hadn't been washed yet. Other than that, almost never.

My partner, on the other hand, has belly button lint every day! And his belly button is extremely ticklish, so it's always really funny watching/listening to him squeal as he tries to remove it.

Good question, I have yet to meet a girl who has lint in her belly button.

LOL (k)InkyIvy, that's my point! I always wear a Plain White T under my shirt that I'm wearing that has probably been washed in the hundred's amount of times. It is a big mystery. And you are a female, the plot thickens...hhmm, weird!

I wonder if men are just more prone to attracting lint? My partner also looks like his feet began absorbing his socks when he removes them, because they're so covered in lint at the end of the day! I, on the other hand, might have a little bit of fuzz stuck to my feet if they've got dry skin or my socks are super fluffy, but that's it.

I don't think I've ever had belly button lint. And if I did, it was rare. My boyfriend, however, seems to get it every day. I pick it out whether he likes it or not because it bothers me. Lol. I guess it IS a man thing! Weird!

My belly button is always clean, my husband on the other hand used to have lots of lint in his, until he finally realized it looked icky and started cleaning it, maybe guys just don't bother to clean thoroughly like us girls do!

My boyfriend has it and I have come to this conclusion;
It's caused by a combination of linty shirts (cotton especially) and coarse tummy hair. Women don't get it because they don't have a lot of hair around their bellies, and if you only wear shirts that don't shed you also don't get it.

I don't run into it, but my husband does. Ryuson's explanation makes a lot of sense as to why, and now I think I get it because he does have coarse belly hair and the shirts do shed. It's not a big deal or a show stopper or gross. Just pick out the fuzzy lint and move on with your life.

Yay!! You solved the great mystery!! I agree, it is probably the hair, shirt materials and maybe sweat that creates and keeps lint in their belly buttons. Even though I do get it when I ride my dirt bike, I do sweat a lot and wear a cotton jersey,, however--no fuzzy tummy, though.

I've never had lint, though sometimes dirt gets in there (don't ask me how), so I get some soap in there when I shower just in case. One time it managed to build up, and it got hard and was pointy when I tried to pull it out. That was just weird and gross.

Good thinking! That's probably why guys have lint and girls don't!

Nope, never happened to me. I've found lint in my boyfriend's belly button before though.
