Can Blood Stain Silicone toys?

Contributor: Beck Beck
I stick to glass and metal toys on my period. Nice to know it won't stain.

Right. A surface has to be porous to take on stains. Silicone is nonporous. Even our white Plug of Lust butt plug didn't take on any stain, as I feared it might. I certainly use toys during my period, for years, and have never seen any stains on any of them.

Silicone will yellow with age, but it shouldn't stain. The yellowing is a different process than taking on particles into the material. I have very old nipple shields and protective breast cups that have turned yellowish in the package, but these were never used. It was just the aging of the material, and these were very thin, very clear medical products. Not thick colored slabs of silicone.

From the responses on this poll, I would say no. Before seeing the results, I would have said "No clue". Good to know tho!

I don't believe so. I've never had an issue with it yet at least.

The thing is some companies list TPR as TPR silicone which can be confusing. TPR can be stained by blood.

It's non porous so then it shouldn't absorb blood.

I've never had blood stain a silicone toy of mine. Even my all-white Lelo Ella has been left unscathed.
