It is still a standard I use to write invitations and thank you cards every day. I feel sad it is going away in school curriculum's.

I work at an elementary school. They had discontinued it for a few yrs, but are starting to teach it again.

I only write in cursive. It's really annoying when people can't read my handwriting because it's in cursive.

Me, too so I found this such an odd question. Cursive is so much faster than printing, which is the whole point of doing it to begin with!

The point of it is to be able to write more quickly than printing! You use a more fluid motion when writing in script than when printing -- with less pen lifts, it's all about economy of motion.

BTW, I've also never had anyone not be able to read my writing. When I was in school, penmanship was graded & if it wasn't legible, you practiced until you got it right! The whole point of writing is for people to be able to read it, so I get annoyed with people who write in what they think is an attractive manner, but sacrifice legibility for style. For example the ridiculous signatures you see that bear no resemblance to the person's actual name.

For the reading, it depends. When I'm reading my boss' handwriting, then I can't read it.

I write in cursive usually, it's quicker. Some peoples handwriting I can't read but that's not my fault
