Just recently I noticed my daughter who isn't even a year old yet rolling her tongue. I think it is the funniest thing because no one has ever taught her how to do that. Both my husband and I can roll our tongues and I heard somewhere that rolling your tongue is a genetic trait. So if your parents can't do it, you probably can't either. Can you roll your tongue?

Yes I can roll both ways. There is this girl on youtube check it out! Ofthen these are very creepy like long grey alien tongues but this girl is doing it the sexy way ^^

That's talent!

I can roll mine. I think my husband can't. I remember having the convo with him but can't remember his answer. I know it's terrible, but I love watching my friends who can't try to. Sooo funny.

It's not actually a useless skill. When babies breastfeed, they have to bring the sides of the tongue up around the areola in order to cup it properly to get enough milk. Babies who can't roll the edges of their tongues can and do learn to breastfeed, but it takes more time.

So, it has real purpose. I am surprised people evolved who can't. But, they develop alternate ways of milking the breast when they are babies.

I can do it. It is definitly genetic. But I forgot if it is a dominant or recessive gene.

I've been able to do that as long as I can remember actually, pretty much everyone in my family can. =3
My mom can even sort of flip her tongue over, but I was never able to do that.
