Can you wash a rice-filled hot/cold eye pillow? (Random, I know)

So I purchased some lovely hot/cold bags from Etsy.com and it is filled with rice and flaxseed + eucalyptus, lavender and chamomile oils and leaves.

Now, I purchased two of them because I intended one to be stored in the freezer for my migraines and the other to be used as needed by heating. (You can microwave them for 40 seconds and it helps drain sinuses).

The only issue was, I noticed it didn't have a removable rice pack. It's sealed and sealed for good... So... can you wash these? Will rice last through a 15 minute wash in the washer machine without growing mold OR will it grow mold on its own from regular usage?

I probably sound stupid for asking this but I never really stopped to think about it.

Huh, I never really did either. I would try to avoid getting them wet if at all possible. I'm not sure about the molding, but I mean what would happen if you just took a handful of rice and ran it through the washing machine? I would think that it would absorb all the water it could and puff up, and then if you were lucky end up like the top layer of a bowl of rice you leave out too long.
