American..but I've never had it with another cheese, so I wouldn't know.

I use white cheddar. I think yellow cheddar is a food color abomination.

As much as I prefer white cheese for flavor, I found yellow cheddar works best on a grilled cheese sandwich

The best grilled cheese I've ever had was a sharp yellow cheddar, jack and provolone cheese with goat cheese, grilled onions and spinach! YUM.

One of the best grilled cheeses I've made is provolone w/tomato and basil and Italian dressing on the bread instead of butter.

It's gotta be American cheese for the classic Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup.

There's a restaurant around here that makes a great garlic bread grilled cheese, and I can't remember if it's provolone or mozzarella.

Now I'm hungry.

Most work just fine, but I'm partial to spicy things. Pepper Jack is my fav.

I just got back from a new local grilled cheese restaurant that opened up in the Orlando area, and let me tell you. ALL OF THE ABOVE! And then some. I love cheese!!

I usually use Muenster in a grilled cheese. When I was younger, I used American. Someone recently suggested I try it with Velveeta, which both disgusts me and intrigues me, so I might actually try it.

As for cheddar, I have tried it in grilled cheese. I'm not a big fan. Cheddar is for quesadillas, not grilled cheese.

Yellow cheddar, but I haven't tried all of those on for a grilled cheese sandwich.

I agree well except for blue cheese or feta unless you mix them with other cheese. Oh now I want a nice cheesy grilled cheese with ice coffee.
