Childhood fears

Found these photos and even though I didn't have these childhood fears per say...they do look friggin scary!

Which childhood fears did you have? Any that you still have today?

I never was really afraid of anything like this. Maybe moths...those things are evil!

Those were awesome pix!

The movie "Poltergeist" scared the hell out of me. I had a lot of Star Wars figures as a kid with a HUGE tree outside my 2nd story bedroom window.

The puppets from "Labrynth" (with the removing of heads) scared me

and worst of all was the Dogman stories. The original country song (almost impossible to find any more) scared the living bejesus out of me.

Haha, I love the removable head guys...they're so hilarious.

Childhood fears? I still have them. I'm afraid of going over bridges.

OMG the removing head guys scared the hell out of me too!

Oh and the Wheelers from Wizard of Oz 2...I may be the only person who has seen that.

@Sir...bridges? Is there a reason?

I just always feel that they'll collapse under me.

Clowns were mine - frightful scary beings that act superfriendly? Nearly killed my introverted, shy childhood. (I have no problem with them now - I think since one of my montessori teachers was one and had showed us how she put her make up on and stuff.)

Slasher/gore movies, as well as my mother's anatomy books. Apparently, my teachers were concerned (alarmed) that I did not share my classmates' curiosity on how the body looked and worked on the inside and would violently 'put up a wall' when we studied it. I recall having frequent nightmares about innards all over the place. (Still haven't gotten over it - STILL sends me into a panic attack with just glimpsing anything.)

Earthquakes. I lived in Missouri all of my childhood, so there shouldn't be a reason, but the lates 70's/early 80's had those rash of disaster movies ... (I live in FL, so I fear hurricanes now.)

I could go on, as I'm mildly neurotic, but those were the big three.

Me too, Sir! I hate driving over bridges. I start sweating, I hold my breath and I start death gripping the steering wheel until my knuckles are white. Especially after seeing a local bridge collapse on the news a few years ago. The older or longer a bridge is, the worse I get anxiety over it.

I have a fear of water. Mostly natural disasters related to water. Floods and hurricanes. The worst is I am terrified of going on a boat. My husband wants to go on a cruise but I refuse to get on a boat. I'm scared a rogue wave will come knock the boat over and I will drown. I have nightmares about water a lot.

Wow these are super interesting! I'm glad I started this.

The reason I have a ridiculous fear of moths is that, my first time Girl Scout camping we had mosquito netting. I was assured this would keep bats, bug, and the like out of my bed...well when I woke up I had a giant cornucopia moth on my NOSE! I thought it was a bat and freaked out. I ended up getting tangled in my own netting with the moth who was equally freaking out.

To this day, I still can't open the front door of my house if there are moths on it lol.

I'm only afraid of creepy crawlies that my cat refuses to kill/eat. I used to be scared of all of them, but after we adopted our kitty, he's sort of become our resident bug-eater. But there are some he won't touch, like black ants and shiny beetles. Also, fuzzier spiders. Guess he doesn't like his mouth tickled.

I like to be able to hide in small spaces when I'm scared, but I'm afraid of being trapped in a box. And sometimes I'm not sure if it's better to be scared alone or to be scared with someone else. I have a crap ton of silly fears, I just can't think about them too much.

Vampires. I was completely terrified of vampires. Out of habit, I still sleep with the covers pulled up under my chin!

And I still don't like tight spaces, or being trapped under things. No idea what started it, though.

That is the coolest photography EVER. I was scared of basically everything as a child. Unfortunately, I had an older brother who would crawl across the floor and grab my ankle in the middle of the night and make creepy crawlers to stick in my bed. Funny enough, when I'm scared that something is there, I HAVE to look for it.
