Do you colour-calibrate your monitor ?

Contributor: Chirple Chirple
I was wondering this after a friend and I looked at the MiMi on her computer, and the question about colours on the forum.

Do you colour-calibrate your monitor ? Does it make a difference over-all for you ?

Have you thought about, or do you have separate colour profiles for different things ?

I've used F.lux for so long, I forget that it effects colours.

No, I don't really see the need to.

In our line of work (print/video/marketing ) color calibration is a MUST. Otherwise, you can't truthfully evalulte what you're seeing. This applies to everything from choosing a car color to a MIMI or lingerie. The closer you can get it to its real color, the better decision you can make!

I don't color calibrate my monitor because for me, there's no real big need to.

I used to color calibrate with Pantone samples when I was doing graphic design for print, but now I just make sure my three monitors match and go with it.

I calibrate my monitor so that when I make prints of my photographs and other artwork it's accurate. It saves time and money, and pre-empts a massive headache.

I didn't even realize that was something I could do, so I definitely don't.

Not professionally, but I definitely use a few (freeware) apps or at least do quite a few tests right after I receive it. Makes a big difference in accuracy, depending on the quality and default settings of the device.

Yup, I do a lot of digital photography, video and Photoshop so color-calibrating is a must.

If you never use a Pantone chart, you probably don't have to worry about color calibration.
