deceived?

A lot of people aren't going to come out with their real picture and/or name on a sex toy website.

Even beyond the sense of privacy, there are possibilities of getting stalkers.

Sometimes it takes me a minute to realize that it isn't the same person I just read in another forum.

I think most, like me, just pick from the limited choices offered by EF. When I first signed on, it "gave me" the one I still use. That's fine. I sure am NOT putting my photo up here.....I think my employer might find that to be "not okay"...if you catch my drift.

I have the generic LOVE avatar, but I think it fits quite nicely along with my username.

I definitely notice when multiple people have the same avatar, but it doesn't bother me.

I have a "fake" one because I don't feel like I should be judged or required to have my face out on this website, or any website. And the picture I use is a real picture form a personal collection, not just one of the standard ones, even though it looks really similar to one of the standard ones people use...

Mine's a dahlia. It's my favorite flower. I love them for their variety. They come in such an amazing array of shapes and sizes and every color and pattern imaginable.

It annoys me too, only because I have "friends" in which I confuse sometimes for other people. But I mean... EF has a privacy promise and I think we should be allowed to take that promise to our pages. If people knew who I was, and I ran into someone I knew, it could put me at risk of losing my job, and at risk for other things.

I don't mind. It can be confusing to see the same avatar and thinking it's the same person but realizing they're all different but it doesn't get me upset. I don't think I'll ever upload an avatar of myself, for any website. I just think it's more fun having an avatar or something you like mine is artwork.

I have a fake avatar for two very important reasons. The first one is that I have teenage daughters who need their Mom to maintain at least some anonymity. I am openly non-monogamous and people; well, act kinda stupid when they find out. I can and will shield my girls from that. we live in a small town and I proudly carry my Eden Tote and wear my Eden shirt....you do the math.
The other reason is I am not a 20 something bombshell that LOOKS like two amazing and hot men should be falling all over me. I am 42, have had three hard pregnancies that have wrecked my 20 something bombshell body and I am self conscious. I am also a gamer chick so I know how nasty mean people can talk about the brave soul who shows her imperfections to the world.
Perhaps when my girls are grown and no longer need to be sheltered from other people's stupidity and I am not self conscious I will put my real face unashamedly on my profile. Until then I have a striking avatar that is kinda kick ass...at least I think so!

I don't mind. I mean, it's nice to be able to recognize a person by their pic, but it doesn't mean anything if they have a generic one. It's the content of their post that matters. I like the anonymity of a generic icon, but I may pick something else at some point. I just don't really want to stand out right now. I'm usually just lurking, the points are what got me active on the forum originally. So I guess if I get more involved in the community I'll customize a bit.

Who cares? I like to have an avatar of something I like. If people wanted to see me, they would friend me on Facebook or something.

Mine is of me!!!!

It's unique and it's the thingie that follows me all over the internet. It's on my blog, my twitter thingie and it is of me.

I don't see what the big deal is. Who cares what a persons avatar is? It's really not that big a deal.

Yeah, I agree. It's not as if the avatar is expressly supposed to be a pic of you. I'm not sure I see the annoyance. *shrug*

I strive for anonymity here. I will not post a picture of myself, and someone IRL wouldn't immediately recognize me from my posts unless they knew me pretty well. I'm never "fake" or less than honest here, but there are people in the real world that don't necessarily need to be aware of this part of my life.
