Do recent problems with cruise ships make it less likely for you to take a cruise?

If you pay attention to news, you've heard about this week's problems on the Carnival Cruise ship, Triumph, and you probably also heard about last year's sinking of the Costa Concordia. If not, here's some background on these and other recent incidents: link

Do incidents like these make it less likely for you to consider taking a cruise?

Yes. I'd worry that something like that might ruin my/our vacation.

Considering the cruise boat traffic we get at Port Canaveral (which isn't the only port in the US), it's statistically pretty rare. That's the only reason it makes the news.

Problems with cruises are like problems with planes..they are rare but doesn't discourage people at all.

I don't have much of a desire to take a cruise but this wouldn't affect my decision.

We've taken 2 Royal Caribbean and one Princess cruise and never had any problems - but I would think twice before doing it again.

While a cruise is something I'd love to experience at least once, I find it to be a bit too touristy for my taste. But all those spas...

I went on one for my honeymoon and have been wanting to go on another ever since! Nothing will change my mind unless it sinks while I am on it

I haven't been into taking cruises to begin with.

it does not worry me. In fact they have been lowering their prices to try to get more people to take cruises. Since they have had a few problems, bookings have dropped. I want to take one with the wife, but we need to wait until the boys are older and can stay for a few weeks with the grandparents.

I've been on two cruises and they were fun, but they can't compare in my opinion to an all-inclusive resort vacation in the Caribbean.

I would love to and even with this news. I would still go on one.

Going on a Carnival Cruise in 10 days! Can't wait. You can hide from everything! Geez, how many planes crash every year? Car accidents?

My husband and I would love to go on a cruise someday...this has not changed our opinion on that. However, we do feel bad for those people who were on the ship

No, but I wouldn't go on a cruise anyways. It just doesn't appeal to me

I'd go on a cruise, but I would NOT go on a Carnival cruise. Yes, accidents do happen, but they've had more than their fair share. I think they cut too many corners and basically invite trouble.

My uncle, a former Navy officer, takes at least one cruise a year. He took a Carnival cruise once and said never again; he said their basic safety routines (lifeboat drills, etc) are lax and that he didn't feel safe on board. Now, he either sails on Norwegian or on smaller lines.

Personally, I want to do a "barefoot" cruise on a sailboat. Someday, I'd like to be a good enough sailor to take trips on our own sailboat...

I do get pretty nervous thinking about going on a cruise and something bad happening. The fact that the waters are loaded with sharks doesn't really put my mind at ease.
