Sometimes I bring a gift. If I can't afford one, I often bake. However, I would never include a regular receipt...perhaps a gift receipt (which doesn't say the price) for more expensive items.

No I don't take gifts. My luck I would bring peanut butter cookies and they would be allergic to peanuts.

Who returns pastries? I have never seen anyone do that unless something is wrong with them.

I agree, that is tacky. I peel off stickers and block off all prices on tags. I don't like people to know exactly what I spent on them.

I've never heard of such a thing. I never bring a gift. Usually we end up having a cook out, so I bring over food or we order take out. I've never had anyone bring us a gift either.

A receipt for food is pointless because most places will not accept returns unless there is something wrong with the food, like mold. But then why did you buy that in the first place. If leaving the receipt I think it should be for something returnable, like household goods.

I like to bring gifts, maybe they just forgot the receipt was there.

Nope, the receipt wasn't there when she first handed me the box - it just magically appeared later!

Type of gift depends on the person and reason I'm there. Never with a receipt.

I may bring a gift if the person just moved into the house, but not if I just happen to be coming for the first time. Of course, if they are having a get-together or something, I may bake some cookies or a coffee cake.

Never was raised to. If I'm staying a long time, I'll treat them to dinner or something, but that's about it
