Do you buy lotto tickets? Do you REALLY think you will ever win??

Deep in your heart and brain, do you really EVER think YOU will win with those tickets you buy??? I wonder how effective the ads are for LOTTO despite the odds. I keep buying them, with that LITTLE voice saying "if I don't play, I KNOW my chance is zero...but that ONE ticket...you never know".

My significant other does low-return tickets, but doesn't do it based on luck. He wrote a program that could predict stuff like that. Does it for kicks.

On rare occasions, when the jackpot is really high, I'll buy a single ticket. So far I've won only $5.

A psychic told me once that I would be extremely wealthy in this lifetime and I don't see how else it's going to happen without some lottery winnings.

I occasionally buy lottery tickets, but not often. I've won $10 a few times, which was nice. But, honestly, I never think I'm going to win.

I recall a comment on the subject being: "There is more of a chance of being struck by lightning than winning the jackpot. Florida is the lightning capital of the world. I've never been struck by lightning. But I'm buying a ticket anyway in case I do get struck five minutes before the drawing."

Besides, I made a deal with myself - what I would spend on the weekly junkfood treat at the corner store will be spent on a ticket instead. At least the schools will see a little bit of my money instead of my waist seeing a lot of empty calories.

Back in the 80s my Mom bought a ticket from a friend who needed some money asap. Quite amazingly, she actually won a motorbike with that ticket! At that time she and Grandma used to have some financial difficulties as Grandpa died... so they sold that bike and finally were able to buy new clothes and stuff

I buy scratch offs every now and then, but nothing big and I don't win much.

We never buy any except maybe once in while get us each a $1 scratch off. Never won more than $50. My dad and my hubby bro go to casino and they end up walking out with a couple thousand, more than they put in. They have luck I do not.

I buy like $20 in scratch offs every six or eight weeks just for the fun of it...I'm a gambler by nature. I buy the ones that take 10 or 15 minutes to complete so I look at it as paying for the entertainment value. But I do win quite often. The last two times I got them have been the ONLY times buying them since I was 18 that I didn't win more than I spent!

My mom won a $40,000 car on a scratch-off ticket earlier this year (she took the cash instead.)

We buy one once in a blue moon and usually only when it is the third in the saying "good things come in threes." But it also goes the other way around, so I could be the first in "bad things happen in threes!"

I do not think I have ever purchased a lotto ticket. Seems like a waste of money.

I've never purchased a lotto ticket, I think the only point is if it's something that is exciting, and it's just not my thing. I know I'm highly unlikely to win, so I'd just feel like I was paying an extra tax or something. I don't gamble either.

I only buy them when my psychic intuition tells me to. I am not kidding. Today I had 3 premonitions, 2 of which came true right away. The third, was to play the lottery, so I did. I'll let you know how that goes. Every time I have had these feelings, I have won. $200, $400...small amounts but still a help! I also got a # with my feeling tonight. I was told 800,000. Boy would that be nice!

You have to play to win. We usually pick up a $1 ticket every other week. I think we will win, one day.

Pretty much the same here.
I understand that we'll never win big even though, through the group at work we buy about $280 in tickets each week. I remember a statistics instructor back in college who played and regularly visited Vegas. She also said "You have to play to win."
