Do you donate to charity?

I like to donate when I can to organizations that are important to me. More often than not, I like to donate goods rather than money (like taking medical supplies/dog food/blankets to the animal shelter, etc.).

I used to work for a company that unofficially required the employees to have a portion of their pay deducted for the United Way. If you declined to make at least a small donation with each pay, there was a big hassle. Also, there were rewards for departments with 100% participation. Regardless of whether or not the United Way is a worthy organization to donate to, it always made me feel very uncomfortable that I was all but forced to donate.

I have a weekly deduction taken out of my paycheck for the United Way, and as often as I can I'll give to the March of Dimes, Children's Miracle Network, and Special Olympics. I also try to drop off my old ()but good) stuff at the local Goodwill, and give my old glasses to the Lions Club.

I try every chance I get. If it deals with children, we are all over it. My childhood was hell, so I always reach out to kids who have come from abusive homes. Xmas is my favorite time of the year because we give away so many toys and cloths. Love it.
