Do you gain weight in the winter?

Contributor: GirlOnGirl GirlOnGirl
I put weight on during the winter. I think I eat more comfort food in winter, plus a lot more lounging at home when it's cold out. What about you?

I'm more reluctant to go walking or go to the gym because of the cold weather, but I eat just the same as always, so as long as I do little things, like cleaning or maybe a few salads, I'm fine.

i stay the same weight...but i get loose. my belly gets a little too relaxed. a few spring bike rides, and that problem takes care of itself.

Some years I do gain a little, but other years I actually lose weight. It just depends.

My weight fluxes throughout the year, doesn't matter what season.

I weigh pretty much the same all year round, I tend to snack more in the winter months, but I don't go overboard on it.

Yes, in the winter I crave carbs and fats, whereas I crave fruits and vegetables in the summer.

I gain a pound or two but only because I'm home all day and eat when I'm bored.

We are actually conditioned by our bodies to crave heavier fattening high carb foods when the weather turns colder. Before all the modern amenities, the body needed more calories in the cold weather to survive. Just an interesting fact for ya!

I don't really gain much weight...I usually just fluctuate throughout the year.

The back-to-back holidays, coupled with the fact that I'm at home all day instead of staying out at classes, has given me the opportunity to put on a few pounds. I'm going to try to get back into yoga to counteract this.

I chose yes but honestly, this year I've maintained. We get up and exercise at least 4-5 days a week and stick to our new way of eating so hopefully I can make it through without gaining!

It depends...this year I have but usually I stay the same but get a bit out of shape. A few rides into the year and I get toned back up again.
