Might seem like a strange question, but I've always liked animals more than people. Animals don't hurt each other with any intent other than survival. They're always honest; they never lie and let you down. When I was left at home alone as a 5 year old and up, my only companions were my pets who I loved so dearly. Every single person in my life has let me down, except my husband. I'm sick of people. I don't want to try to be sociable and make friends anymore. It's a waste of effort because they'll just leave or mistreat me in the end.

But, I enjoy people. I hate most pet-based animals and want nothing to do with them. I just don't like animals in general.

As a whole, I like animals. They're innocent and all have so much incredible personality, I really love animals. But, I can't say that I don't like people, just as a WHOLE people tend to be gross. XD I am definitely a people person though, I love being social, just with the right people.

I love animals of all kind, I love their simple complexities and their alien thinking, but they cannot take the place of a loving person who can hold you close while you cry, agree with you when your heart feels like it is being ripped apart, and offer you words that soothe and comfort.
My animals love me, they show me that, but they really don't understand when I grieve for what I might have had with my father who smoked himself into an early grave. My husband, who's father has actively told him that he doesn't have time in his life for a son, understands and grieves with me. My life partner, who just learned things about his father that have left him shaken and angry, can share his pain and understand mine as well. My cat, however, can only purr and look confused when I cry. He tries to comfort me but he can't say the words I need to hear. He can't say, "I understand, and I am so sorry."
So ya, I have to say after many years of saying that animals are better than people that I have found that people are just a bit of a better animal in my book.

I feel like I should say people, but I'm saying animals. As much as I love the people in my life I have had connection to animals that run much deeper. Animals are smart, loving, and don't talk back, lol.

I like people more and I am not even a people person. Nor am I an animal person. People are the most complex and interesting animal on the planet. YES, most people just plain suck but no animal is as beneficial as finding the few humans that are truly worth it. Animals are only of interest if it is necessary for human welfare, I could careless about animals themselves.

While I love animals very deeply and connect with them on a very primal level, humans have so much more to offer in the realms of connection, conversation and real understanding.

Am I weird? People, easily. I like animals too, but you can't connect on a deeper level with an animal. Yeah, people suck sometimes, but we're complicated creatures. All the ways we feel about animals are understood by our very complex, very fascinating minds. And I'm assuming we're really talking about pets, here. I don't know if I'd say a bear or a tiger, or a caribou or a sloth is loyal, sweet, or honest...I'm not really sure animals can be honest though, since that requires the ability to be deceptive and dishonest with some ulterior motive, which requires a higher functioning brain. In any case, I think we romanticize animals when we are down on people. There is a wide range of behavior and nature in the animal kingdom. People can vary a lot as well, but there are some fundamental things that we understand to be very human and that connects us all. We really need one another, too. Animals are nice, but given the choice, people are more important to me, no contest.
