Do You Like To Be Hugged?

Contributor: BlackCherry BlackCherry
I really like hugs! Of course, if you're some random stranger off the street, that would be creepy, but if you're someone I know, chances are I'd love a hug from you.

I'm very picky about when and who I'm touched by but I do like hugs.

I like hugs and such from people I'm close to, but I don't like when people you barely know feel the need to hug after just meeting once or twice. It happens to me quite often and it feels a little strange.

I am very affectionate and cuddly, but only when i want to be. When i am with my partner i really enjoy being physically close to them, being touched by them and hugged. I will often hug friends good-bye, but i dont really care to be touched otherwise unless i know them very well and even then i sometimes would rather avoid physical contact that exceeds sitting next to one an other.

As long as it's not a guy who's trying to get something out of me, I love being hugged or touched. I'm a very affectionate person. But if it's that one creepy guy who can't respect personal boundaries, then I tend to get really uncomfortable and have to assert myself.

This is an interesting question because physical touch is my love language. With the right people, hugs feel amazing. they make EVERYTHING better. with the wrong person, though, I want to crawl out of my skin. I hug my close family and friends and partners, of course, but I prefer to hug my sister and partners best.

Maybe I'm really weird but like don't touch me unless I've given you explicit permission. If you're my partner or a really close friend who I am really close with with then it's ok. I tolerate but dislike hugs with everyone but I actually like holding hands and some cuddly stuff like that with people I'm really close with. Hugs are just awkward and feel bad and I don't like them lol. When I was a small kid like 3 years old I ran to my mom crying because my grandma hugged me.... I think that's just how I've always been

I give people like my family hugs because I think it's rude not to and I'll hug people sometimes if they're upset and crying but I've never liked it. I think I have a Sensory Processing Disorder or something tbh.

I don't like random people I'm casually acquainted with to pat me on the back either. Personal space is nice.

For the most part, i feel the same way. I find that i dont care for hugs to even touched by people who is just a casual acquaintance, and sometimes people i even consider friends. I think it party comes from having people constantly cross boundaries and touch my breast since i have such a large chest, with out my consent. If i dont know someone very well, i will ask if i can hug them, and i would like to have the same respect when it comes to others who try to do so.

You make a very good point about the breast issue! I'd be interested to know how many people with large breasts, or those who are self-conscious about their body in some way, are less likely to accept hugs. I started developing by 6-7 & had to wear a bra by 9 yrs old. I had a breast reduction a few years ago, but they are still big, (though much more comfortable).

Personally, I grew up where hugs were less & less as we I got older, but it was mainly our resistance to it, our personal boundaries and that was influenced by my parochial school, where no one hugged friends. I was shocked when the first day at my new, all-girls'-school, that many of them were hugging openly since they had all come up together from lower school on to the high school. Well, by the end of four years there, I, who never hugged girls before, was much more amenable to it in a non-sexual context!

I must project some aura of reserve that keeps people from attempting to hug me & that is actually easier on me. I want the hug to be mutually agreed upon & most DO ask if they can hug me, the few times it comes up. I would rather have a touch to the arm or shoulder than an embrace by someone I am not involved with or very close to. Strangely, I'm more of a 'toucher', than I am comfortable accepting them.

I'm not a touchy feely person myself with others, but I like being on the receiving end.

I wish I wasn't so reserved & was more like you!

I worry sometimes that I'm like many others without a partner(s) & that have become touch starved! Thank God for my cats! I kid you not, I get a lot of my dose of it from them, but it's not a complete replacement for human touch interaction.

I always thought, & was told, that I am unusual in my reaction to hugging. But, based on the results here, I am probably more like everyone than unlike them, huh!

Ha i didnt think of al the cuddle time i spend with my cat(s) and pup! Honestly, since my cat wont put of a fight when it comes to being hugged, carried, and cuddled (i constantly and cradling him in my arms as if he's a baby) i'm left never really needing any physical contact from people. I will always go out of my way to cuddle and hug furry friends/pets!

My mom thinks this snuggle time with our pets is why we don't need or crave as much human contact as others! I really am happy all alone, as long as I have cats, (& preferably dogs, too)! But I do miss sex! Haven't had any since 1991! So, yeah, I need SOME human contact, but now that I found toys I can use without a bad reaction to them, I am doing fine - I'd prefer a person attached to a penis, but I can make do!
