We don't have to but there are various places to dump various kinds of trash and recycling so it's not like it's hard to do here.

We do seperate trash for recycling.

We have plastic and cardboard recycling, and then regular trash.

We have separate for recycling.

We have one for trash and one for recycling. When I was living in the Bay Area (California), I had to separate paper, metal, plastic.
