I own 5 guns, my husband 7--and we know gun safety, keep them locked up and do not leave them loaded. Where we live, you can grin a bear down or live.

I've given several people instruction including firing on the range.
Owning a firearm is indeed a big responsibility definitely one to be taken seriously.

I own 2 one for hunting and a handgun for safety. My wife was absolutely against the idea of owning a gun until I took her out and properly showed her how to use it. Now she doesn't mind them and actually enjoys shooting them.

If you lived where i live you would want a gun. If you did what I used to do for a living you'd want a gun. I need to update my gun safety classes but you should know how to use one if there comes a time that you need to know what you are doing.

I've grown up hating guns too. I never even touch a gun. My dad always taught us to never touch them and he never left them lying around the house. However, just lately I've been considering learning to shoot and buying a gun. We just discussed it earlier. I don't like guns, but lately I feel, as a female, I could use one for protection. Things have gotten pretty wild in the world these days and while our area is SUPER low crime, there was a rumor about a shooting last night. Also, Chattanooga is where we all have to go for any shopping, most errands, work, etc. There's very little in our small area so we have to travel a good hour to Chatt for most things. My mom works in a HORRIBLE neighborhood and has been held at gun point and robbed more than once. She moved centers and became the manager of a different store after being robbed at her last one and once again, she was robbed here too! She absolutely needs a gun. I have began to think I could use one as well for safety. I don't do guns for fun. Not my thing, but I think as a woman, I need to have a way to protect myself and well, let's face it, I'm 93 pounds and 5 2". Ain't nobody gonna be scared of me! Lol. I could benefit from some classes on protection, but I think I could also benefit with a gun. I carry a knife and pepper spray for now.

I own several and I'm glad. The time did come that my 16 year old son had to use it to save my life. It came down to my life or the man that was trying to kill us. My son made the right choice, he shot the bad guy. Thank God we had the gun and my son knew how to use it! We are alive today!

I own more guns then I can count. And I plan on getting more. I am also trained at using one. They are all locked up in a safe or two, so no unwanted hands can get to them.

I don't even take my dog outside without a knife I my pocket. A knife is only going to do me any good if I'm attacked and rolling around with the person. With a gun I can shot them as the enter my house. As soon as we can afford to purchase one and get proper permits, we will have one if not many.

I own several. My dad is an avid hunter and always enjoyed shooting sports. He taught me to always have respect for guns and how to handle them safely. Above everything else, I would stress to anyone here considering buying a gun that it is mandatory to be properly trained in safety and handling of guns! If you won't or can't take courses, or have a trusted friend or relative to teach you, don't buy a gun! And practice, so safe handling is second nature. Defending against an intruder is not the time to try to learn. The gun can be turned on you if the intruder senses lack of confidence, and you can be a danger to yourself, your family, or even your neighbors.

Once you've learned the prerequisites, target shooting is a whole lot of fun!

I don't own a gun and never have. Not to say I wouldn't want to own one, I just haven't had the desire to go out and get one.
