Do you sleep with your cell phone on and by your bed?

Contributor: Willowe Willowe
I voted for both "on and within reach" and "turned off". I do leave it on and by my bed because I use it for an alarm clock, but since I have an iPhone I use the "do not disturb" setting so I don't get any texts or calls while I'm sleeping.

Charging in the kitchen. Still have a land line if it really an emergency and someone needs to get in touch with us.

I keep mine on my nightstand out of habit. I like to be able to hear it if it rings, sometimes work will try and call me in early, and I used to use it as an alarm clock. The screen is messed up and I can't see to put an alarm on it anymore, but I've used a phone for an alarm for years so I'm used to bringing it to bed with me. For a while when I had a phone with a busted ringer in high school I slept with it tucked into the tank tops I would sleep in so the vibrations could wake me up in the morning!

I don't have an alarm clock so I put my phone on my night stand and use it as one

Other. It's always left on, but away from our bed. I don't want radiation near me when I'm sleeping.

I sleep with it in reach. Need to in case I have to answer it in the middle of the night in the pitch dark. Not a fan of using toes, shins, and thighs to find furniture.

I don't have a reason for having it by me at night, just I'd rather just have it there.

Usually it always stays on a bookshelf, which is beside my bed. I try to keep my eye on it throughout night hours in case my sisters have a crisis, one just happened at 2AM tonight -- common occurance. Lol. So I try, but rarely get to it.

I would just as soon leave it on the shelf until I just so happen to need it. I don't keep up with my phone very good, and when I do, it's likely dead anyway. Lol. Just today, one of the few times I do take it out with me, it went dead as soon as I left home. I try to keep it on me in case my family need something, but I never have pockets and tend to overlook my phone. I'm not a big phone person, clearly. But I do keep it near the bed just in case.

When I'm sleeping my phone is used as an alarm clock. My actual alarm clock is not reliable enough to get me to work on time. Several times I have set it to wake me up and then it never does. I'll get up and it will still be set for the right time and everything. Both of us have been late to work a few times because of it. The phone is far more reliable.

Yes. Too scared to be unreachable since I have a child and small niece. My niece has been to the hospital over 2 dozen times in the last year and a half as well.

I used to keep in my messenger bag downstairs at night, but right before my grandson was born I started keeping it by my bed so I wouldn't miss a late night call or text. Now I've installed an alarm clock app that I really like so it's still by my bed every night.

My cell phone is my only phone, so yes, I leave it turned on in case of emergency. Also, I use it as an alarm clock.
