Do you take sleep aids?

When I was in high school I tried Melatonin once or twice but found that it didn't really help all that much.
Now I tend to put on a show or movie that I've seen a billion times and that helps me pass out.
If not, classical music and chamomile tea.

I had a prescription for awhile. Currently, no. I also don't think the OTC stuff is worthwhile.

I have the worst insomnia in my family - my parents remember me being three-years-old, up at one in the morning, and crying that I couldn't sleep.

I first tried Tylenol PM in high school, but I felt like a zombie the next day, so I didn't take it much. Then I tried Dramamine throughout my 20's, but that wasn't must better with the zombie feeling (in fact, it kept me up the very next night). I decided to quit the over-the-counter stuff, as it made me feel worse the next day than just having the insomnia.

I've currently taken up a combination of gentle yoga in the evenings with a gaba supplement, and that's helped me a lot. It takes me only an hour to get to sleep instead of the usual four or five hours. And switching off the electronics a couple hours before bed also helps.

No, but if I really need to sleep and it just isn't happening I take a Benadryl.

I use that z-quil (I probably didn't even spell that right! I don't use it much, as you can tell! ) when I cannot get a good night's sleep...a restful sleep in VERY much appreciated!

Every now and then I will take some melatonin to help me fall asleep, and to sleep more deeply. I realize it's better not to take anything without the supervision of a doctor, but it has helped me in the past.

I also like valerian root. It's very relaxing but not overly sedating for me.

Sometimes I'll Take Benedryl To Sleep. I Have A Perscription For Atarax To Sleep, But It Makes Me Groggy In The Morning So I Don't Take It Often.

I saw the same thing on the news. Ugh... it's always something.

I alternate between Ambien and melatonin. I wish I wasn't reliant on drugs, but I've always, always had trouble falling asleep.

I take melatonin because of my ADHD- either the meds are still working so I can't sleep, or they're so far out of my system I am bouncing off the walls.
