Our central air is set at 78 degrees, so it usually kicks on around 3 p.m. on warmer days. Today's high was 89 degrees, it's been muggy all day, the a/c has been running most of the time. Right now it's 75 degrees, and the cool breeze is back in our part of town.

With kids we have to use it in the 100+ weather. Turned it on in June.

I don't know the first time I turned one of my units on. Where I am the temperature normally drops enough at night to cool the house with a couple window fans and the house is well enough insulated that the inside temperature doesn't rise much during the day. If it is too warm for me to sleep I head down to the basement to sleep.

Tonight I had to turn on my A/C for the first time this summer. It is muggy, with no wind. I just open the windows at nigh to cool down the house, but without the wind the house is too muggy to sleep. So I had to turn on the a/c. How many of you ... more
We are deep south. AC is mandatory when you are over 95 every day with high humidity.

Oh gosh yes, especially this summer! I work overnights so sleeping during the day would be awful without it. I almost require it to be cool in the room when I'm sleeping.

Nope. I live in an old house. A/Cs are still a thing of the future, for me.

I would die without my A/C! I hate the heat and being an Australian it doesn't sit well so my A/C get used a lot.

We live in the deep south. It has been over 100 degrees here for weeks on end. Could not survive without A/C in a modern, insulated house.

I have had ours on for two months. Not happy with my electric bill, can't wait till I can take them out of the window. Then I probably complain about the heating bill, go figure.
Just bought new HIGH EFFICIENCY heat pump. Saves me well over $200 a month from what I was paying. Will be FULLY paid for in ten months at this rate.
