I have a program on my mac to make websites but I want to know after its done do i have to sign up to get a .com and pay a monthly fee? I have no idea how it works i started a website and it seems to be going good but when i done i have to get it plublised by a domain company?

If you want to have your own website, you have to purchase a domain (the .com) and a hosting company (the people that host the actual website). There are lots of places to do it for free, but if you want a customized .com you must actually purchase the domain.

Yup, what DeliciousSurprise said. You can try GoDaddy or HostGator. I use HostGator for my sites. They have good technical support and such.

I use Name.com to purchase my domain, since I don't really love GoDaddy, and they've been great.

You need to purchase a domain--usually pd. yearly. Go Daddy, Name and Whosis are excellent choices. Mine are through GoDaddy.

Then you can choose which hosting option to use, I use their hosting options. There are different brackets--you do need to have an idea of the traffic and bandwidth you are going to need, dedicated server or community, etc. Do your research first--it will save much money in the end!! And everything adds up--FAST!! ALSO--if a forum is on the site you are building, start it how you need it to stay, changing them is almost impossible!!
