Does Smoking Bother You?

Smoking makes me nauseous. I deal if I'm in a smoky place, but I really dislike it.

I don't smoke... & it doesn't really bother me when someone smokes around me... I end up coughing & choking on the smoke though.. But I'll tolerate it.

I cannot stand the smell of smoke. Makes my lungs hurt and my throat burn. I really cannot understand the attraction or why anyone would even start???

My throat burns for hours if I am in a smokey room or exposed for a few minutes to second hand smoke. Very unpleasant and I can smell it in my cloths for days. Yuk.

Interesting. I find the smell of weed even more repulsive the cigarette tobacco.

It's not that I am "intolerant", but my throat would burn for days. I would have to get up and leave.

My prior BF did, and I asked him to quit...which he did. He thanked me years later when his brother died of lung cancer after having throat cancer at 40 (having smoked for almost 30 years, 2 Packs per day).

I like to consider myself a "polite smoker".

When I know people don't like being smoked around, I don't smoke around them. I think it is only polite. And when I don't know, I try to remember to ask if they mind. LOL!! It ... more

That's another topic, but yes, that can be pretty bad too.

I hate smoking, it smells nasty and sticks to everything. I don't allow smoking in my house or property, in my car, or around my kids. If I am at someone else's house, I just have to deal with it.
Well said.

It didn't bother me when I smoked. Now it does. I go to the grocery store and someone walks past, I think "Yep they definitely smoke." It's the smell that bothers me.

420-wise, you can smoke around me but you should be polite and offer me a hit. I am really thinking about getting my medical cannabis license because it will help my nausea/migraine stuff and give me the munchies. Win-win because I'm getting too skinny.

It can hurt you just as bad. Remember, second hand smoke is worse then what the smoker is getting.

Despite reports to the contrary, secondhand smoke is not worse than active smoking. The toxicology of tobacco smoke is the same irrespective of the method of exposure. The factors of dose, concentration, duration, and host susceptibility all contribute to the adverse health effects observed in an individual. So-called secondhand smoke produces adverse health effects in individuals compared with those not exposed to any form of tobacco smoke. This finding forms part of the medical basis of legislation to limit unwanted potential exposures to tobacco smoke in public venues.

before i quit smoking i never even noticed the smell, now it gives me a headache. I still let friends smoke cigarettes in my car, but i roll down all the windows and turn off my AC/fan. Being in a smoked filled bar is a different situation. I HATE IT. i end up feeling like i cant breathe. I can tolerate pot smoke. My partner cant stand any of it though.

I'm not fond of it, and grew up in a non-smoking house in anti-smoking California. I don't want it inside restaurants. Outside I don't complain. A little smoke doesn't bother me, and I'm actually a little annoyed at people who go on rants about how it's so disgusting and smokers are horrible when they see a person smoking.

I don't smoke, and I don't like the smell of cigarettes either. I was in the hospital with pneumonia when I was younger due to staying the night at a relative's home who was a heavy smoker. Ever since then I avoid being around it.

If I'm around people who smoke outside it doesn't bother me though and I tolerate it. I just can't be in an inclosed area with people smoking.

I don't tolerate smoking. At all. Not indoors, not outdoors.
If I'm walking down a sidewalk and someone on the same side as I am I smoking, I either run ahead of them without breathing until I get past them or I cross to the other side.

I can't stand it!! That was also a dealbreaker for me when I was dating. It gets in your clothes and hair and makes you stink. And the whole cancer thing. Nope!!
