I give him and hug and tell him I love him. Plus a card or some item he needs or wants. I always help him out on his projects around his house. I think doing that all year is alot better then just a one day a year thing.

I have no intention to talk to my father.

I give my brother a phone call. He's the father in my life who I'm closest with.

Wow, I'm amazed that so many people in this post so far have rocky father relationships. Me too!!! I'm thankful for the sense of camaraderie. Sometimes having "atypical" family situations can be a bit isolating... Only sometimes though.

To be perfectly honest, my father passed away in the last year, so I'm feeling a bit sensitive about father's day this year. (not that I haven't in years past...)

C'est la vie.

I can't afford to buy him anything so I send him a nice card and call him on the phone for a nice chat. Since he is 1100 miles away I do not get to see him much. I always thank him each year for teaching me how to use tools. If not for that I would not have the skills I have today.

I usually send a gift. My dad's birthday is pretty close to Father's Day, so I usually send a birthday card along with a gift.

my Dad passed away in 2009 so I don't celebrate Father's day with him. I will give my FIL something though as he's like a father figure to me. Also a gift for Anakin who's a great Dad to our kids.

I think the second and third answers are the same except the third comes with a card.

Agree - but I included that answer because some people just get a gift without a card.

I give him a gift and a card, though I am thinking I will start giving him gift cards instead of something I pick out myself. He never uses anything I get him as gifts, so it's just a waste.

Yes. I always do something for my father. Usually my mom and sisters and I throw him a party and cook. He's extremely hard to buy for so I usually bake my oatmeal candy. It's his favorite! But if I know something that he'd like I will get it. Usually my partner knows exactly what to buy him so he picks out the gift, but this year I'm prepared! I got him some really nice cologne and will probably bake for him. It just wouldn't be the same if I didn't.

My dad is a total D-bag, so he gets nothing.
Within th house, I usually have my kids their dad something cute.
I don't see the point in spending real money on a hallmark holiday when a nice dinner usually does the trick.

My dad passed away in 1999. I don't celebrate it. Depression usually hits pretty hard around father's day as I haven't learned to properly cope with it and not sure if I ever will.

I usually try to find something reasonably priced that he would LIKE and fits his interests (heavy metal, wrestling, other redneck stuff), and a gift card as well, to someone I know he would shop.
