I know from other polls there are a lot of pet lovers here. I have a question for those with FISH. Do you feed with flakes or granual food? I have a new, BIG tank (170 gal). Freshwater.

I always used flakes in the past, but the "pro"s all seem to push granual, which, it seems to me would foul the bottom faster. I'm not sure I want to switch.

What kind of fish food do you use, and why?

When I had fish I always used pellets and granuals. My fish didn't like the flake and I didn't care to feed it to any of the small top swimmers anyway!

I also use to give them frozen bloodworms and shrimps too which they would go nutz over.

When I had fish they had an easier time eating all of the granules instead of leaving some flakes to get stuck to everything!

i had a billion different fish and none of them would eat flakes unless they were starving. i fed them the pellet things

We have a 55gal where we use both flakes and granuals, because some of our fish will only eat one or the other. And then we add algae wafers or cucumber for the vegetarians!

I was a professional aquarist for a while, and I had to devise diets for each type, or species, of fish to simulate what the fish would be eating in the natural environment. This could be anything from algae, other vegetation, fruit, various worms and larva, various other fish, squid, and even coral.

Feed my fish to the turltles, The turtle eats pellets when not eating my fish.
