Food limiting. Do you do it?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
As I pack my lunch this morning, I am ONLY packing one sandwich. My favorite "whatever" between two slices of bread.

In the olden days (I'm mid fifties), I recall both from school, through about ten years ago at work, IF people made their own lunch, they always brought in about TWO sandwiches...almost never one. One would get comments like "hey, you not eating today"?

Now, almost everyone I work with brings ONE, and sometimes HALF!

Is that the "new normal"? Do you limit the amount you bring, when you pack a lunch, for "healthy" and "weight" reasons??

No I never limit what I eat.

I eat normal to big portions but my weight stays the same. I have a very good digestive system and most of what I eat is healthy, (little meat, lots of veggies, low on carbs, etc).

I eat what I love and I love healthy food.

I have a friend who is at a healthy weight, she is not overweight or skinny but her weight is always yoyo-ing. She gets really skinny then she gains like 15 pounds. Always go from skinny to curvy. She goes on diets, eats little of anything, stops sweets, etc. Then she gets tired of the diet and eats normally then she gains weight.

I see hpw frustrating it is for her and I prefer to eat normally all the time and avoid having to feel depressed about my weight.

I don't do it, but I probably should. I gain weight soo easily, unlike my sister who has the best metabolism in the world!

I just eat when I'm hungry, and I eat until I'm full. I take whatever I want to eat, and don't care what anyone else says about the amount or what it is. I generally tend to eat normal sized portions, but I get hungry really frequently, so I need lots of in between snacks. I have a pretty fast metabolism, which I'm scared may change at any moment, especially considering my age. LOL But, until I'm no longer able to stay at a healthy weight, I'm going to keep eating what I want when I want. I try to keep it as healthy as possible, but I'm not fanatical, that's for sure.

I'm very active because of my work and I have a high metabolism because of it. Rather than eating large meals, I eat several small meals throughout the day. Each meal looks like practically nothing but I eat as much as or more than most people.

I do when I feel that I'm gaining weight. Other than that, not really.

I do not purposely limit my food intake, but since my metabolism has slowed down because of age, I cannot eat as much as when I'm younger.

Scientifically speaking, larger people tend to have more efficient digestive fauna, and therefor derive more nutrition from what food they eat: hence rapid weight gain. So you may want to rethink your definition of "best metabolism".

I'm recovering from an eating disorder. I've had to change my attitudes about food a lot in the process. These days, my only real 'goal' is to eat three times a day. I try to pay attention to how my body is feeling and modify when I eat and how much by ibs, hypoglycemic reactions, and overall feelings of fatigue.

I kind of mix following what I want and how I feel. If I crave something sweet, I have it, but in moderation so that I don't get headaches or dizziness or that heavy feeling. If I want a hamburger, I have one, but I don't like the way red meat in that quantity makes me feel. The last time I made one, I ended up miserable and eating handfuls of blueberries because they generally make me feel better.

Being more in tune with my body has helped me learn to judge portion size by what I need.

I've tried to step away from this attitude some and start counting calories and slashing things out of my diet again, but when I tried that, I ended up feeling very sick and eating under 800 calories a day. Maybe someday I'll be in a place where I can look at food the way most people do, but I can't do that right now.

I am big on portion control. That is how I control my weight. I don't ever really worry about "what" I'm eating, but rather how "much" of it I'm eating.

I try to measure food out now. Like proper amounts of pasta and rice etc. But i just ordered a ton of soup for delievery through grubhub and im not limiting myself. I always eat more when im sick. Ill let it slide. And i may have ordered frys as well. And an extra soup if im gonna be honest. Hahaha.

Ive been trying to limit what I eat but mostly eat better things. We subbed pizza night with Sushi night for a while until the owner of the place acted like an ass and now we are looking for a new sushi place.

It depends on the kind of day I'm going to have. If I know I'm going to be doing a lot of work - as in, a lot of physical or laborious work - then I would have two, but otherwise just one.

I am the opposite. I have to eat roughly 6k in calories a day to maintain weight.

I always fill my lunch box as full as it can get. That way I can eat however much I need to eat to get full. Some days, depending on the work load for the day, I do not eat everything. Other days the lunch box comes back empty.

portion control! i really try for the "fit it into the palm" rule, that's how i've maintained a low weight.

i don't eat till i get stuffed or full either; our culture insists on people eating like this for some reason and it's the reason why we're one of the fattest countries in the world. i eat till i feel satisfied, i guess (does that make sense?)

eating healthy foods is absolutely necessary as well. i try to avoid generally not healthy stuff except occasionally. i find that i feel better when i eat right rather than splurge at mcdonalds or something
