I drink both coffee and water on an average day, but I don't keep track of the amounts of either.

I used to drink a lot of coffee and then stopped altogether. Now I drink decaf but not everyday and I dont keep track of my water intake except for when I go to hot yoga. Otherwise, I just drink when I'm thirsty.

I am going to tell you your doctor is wrong. Caffeine is a diuretic (you lose water from drinking it), but this is really only the case for people who do not drink it regularly. Your body gets used to drinking it and you stop getting this effect.

I drink coffee every day, but I also carry water with me everywhere, and drink it throughout the day. I have a very physical job, and I'm a runner. I need my water.
