Gay marriage: yay or nay?

if people wanted it legal who are in the congress and such, it would be already. it's not and im sure religion is a lot to do with it and I'm glad. I've never seen/heard so many people in "agreement" with gay marriage til this post. everyone i know except maybe 2 people are against it.

It states in 1 Corinthians 6 that certain sins will not inherit the kingdom of heaven and this is one of them.

And it's not an "anceient book". I'm a Christian and I firmly believe it's wrong as with abortion = murder, and other subjects that no one will ever agree on.

My answer is no i do not think it should be legal. keep it at that less

If you choose not to watch the video, fine. But the biggest points that made sense in terms of THIS conversation were:

1) Our Founding Fathers instituted a separation of church and state.
2) The Bible is not a legal document.
3) Using religion as a reason to ban gay marriage does not give you freedom of religion, it's using religion to oppress people. less

The Bible said you were supposed to wait 40 days after birth.... Why is THAT rule flexible, yet "rules" about homosexuality NOT flexible? I thought you "knew" the Bible? Bible says it is "an abomination" to have sex in the first 40 days after a birth (longer for a girl baby, for the same lovely reasons that it says you can sell your girl children into slavery, I would imagine.)

Just for shits and giggles, here's what the Bible has to say about tattoos.

Leviticus 19:28 "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print or tattoo any marks upon you: I am the Lord."

I guess you are just as much of "an abomination" as the rest of us, hmmmm?

How can you condemn others, when your own actions are in just as much in contrast to Leviticus and Deuteronomy as anybody you condemn? Please, learn some tolerance! Or at least realize most of the Bible is an ANCIENT TEXT written for ANCIENT HEBREWS and not modern Americans. less

Not really as simple as that because laws like the banning of gay marriage force those who don't like HIS teachings to live by them. And learn them. Religion has no place with any law. Because not everyone follows the same religion and there is no PROOF anyone religion is right. Allowing one to provide reasoning behind the laws only allows them to have more power. No one can say any GOD is right, therefore when laws are made they shouldn't include any religion. It's really as simple as that. less

The books of Corinthians were letters to the Corinthians. Are there bits and pieces that are applicable to today? Perhaps. But the last time I checked, we weren't living in 1st century Corinth. Perhaps there was a reason that Paul wrote about homosexuality then that no longer applies today. less

and there is only 1 true God, all others are false. And we don't make laws, officiaries do but they must not like it either because it's only legal in a few states. and nope the Bible is NOT stupid.

I seem to remember that divorce is wrong in the Bible as well. Spin offs of Christianity started because the king wanted to divorce his wife and take another...


Also...the Bible is a translation, who is to say that whoever translated it, translated it correctly? less

There's different translations but the ones that aren't re-worded into "todays" words is NIV, NKJV, KJV and NSV

AND i agree that it's stupid to argue about this, so with that said this is my last reply before i end it lol. I believe it is wrong, so that is my belief. less

nope, i do what i want when i want with my kids/husband, and thankfully for us we have like no "open" people like that around here except the 1 tranvestite person at the museum lol who was CLEARLY a guy with fake boobs or tissues in shirt. the lady behind us who was helping with tickets was like did she help u? im like yes he helped us thanks. if you're gonna dress like a girl at least do a decent job at it, not have facial hair and a wig moving.

And of course you'll get arguements on here or anywhere - i have fun with the debates on facebook about this, goes on for 3 hours once my kids are in bed. im not the only opposing person on there though, so it's better with 2 people's views as the same pretty much.

And lastly, it's not a popularity competition so idk what the point in continuing it is. less
