Have you ever found yourself living 'down' to someone's expectations of you?

Most of us grow up learning to live up to others expectations of us, but there are those who have people in their life who think less of them than they should. These people often find that since they have no one to believe in them--it is pointless to better themselves.

The only example I could think of are some of my school teachers. One hated my brother with passion, so when she started to teach me she never missed the chance to show how low she thinks of me. I blame her for making me hate physics. I was never actually bad at it, I had a B. But because of her treating me like shit I started hating it and never tried hard at it.
Another teacher disliked me for the sole reason of my nationality, although she never admitted it openly. So I made her quit school. And I don't regret it.
To sum up, I don't believe in trying to exceed someone's low expectations.
