I know it sounds weird as hell, but it has happened with me a couple of times in my life, after frightening dreams or in ones where somebody or something was hurt, or there was something dramatic or horribly bad in the dream... ~sighs

For sure. It's still not as bad as my boyfriend who wakes up screaming!

yes, but usually just screaming, and sometimes i cry once i'm awake. they're always nightmares about my dad.

Yep. Usually from a dream about a friend or family member getting injured.

Doesn't sound "weird as hell" at all. I've had these dreams many times. When it's a really emotional dream like Gold Lion said (family member/friend being injured or worse), I'll be crying in my dream and when I wake up my pillow is soaked from my tears.

I actually had that happen a lot when I was little, I used to have nightmares at least once or twice a week about my mother passing away that would make me wake up screaming and crying.
These days though I hardly ever have nightmares, and none in recent memory that made me actually cry.

Only once. I dreamed I'd gotten a new dog, and when she jumped up into my arms I woke up and immediately began crying. It might have been because she reminded me of the dog I'd had to put down a dew years prior.
