I just discovered the magic of banana "ice cream". I was just wondering if there are many other people who have made it or even heard of it. If you have made it, what do you add to it.

For those who don't know, banana "ice cream" is just frozen bananas that are blended to a creamy, soft serve consistency. It's a great dairy free, vegan alternative to conventional ice cream. Plus, you can add peanut butter, chocolate, honey, or whatever your heart desires!

I made a very crappy version the other day and it was delicious (I'm lazy and don't like to cook). Next time I plan to blend it instead of just basically smushing a frozen banana. I still really enjoyed it though.

Never heard of it, but I've had frozen bananas before. I like the taste, but the texture of bananas I'm not too fond of unless they're not fully ripe. (The greener, the better.)

My fiance isn't a fan of the texture of bananas either but he can't stop eating my banana ice cream. It's great if you don't like the texture since it has the texture of soft serve but the flavor of bananas.

This sounds delicious! I'm going to have to try it soon, I love pretty much anything with bananas.

Does it work better with fresh bananas or the ones that are just on the verge of being "overripe" and developing little brown spots on the peel?

Yes! It's delicious. You have to eat them kind of fast though, because once they start thawing out it's kind of gross.

Here's a link to it link. I bought bananas that were just turning brown and sliced them and froze them as soon as I got home from the store. They worked perfectly for me but I assume you can use bananas in any stage you like.

it wasn't bad, but I usually prefer the taste of greener bananas than the ones I used. I don't know how that would freeze up, though.

I've made it and I enjoy it. I've never really considered it "ice cream," though. I just think of it as a thick banana smoothie. I usually do just bananas and peanut butter.

I often add frozen bananas to all of my smoothies because it makes them creamy.
