Have you looked into your family tree?

Contributor: js250 js250
I have been pretty active with my family tree for about 6 months and have found out some extremely interesting info...

Actually, many of my relatives are very famous historically and I was unaware of their deeds and accomplishments until I did the research and then found the historian that wrote a lot of the books about them. Now, though, I am hesitant to bring up this bit of info--it sounds like I am bragging, resting on their laurels, whatever you would call it. On the other hand, I am very proud to belong to this family and am amazed that I remember some of the details from when I was a child.

So--have you dug into your tree? What did you find? How did you deal with it?

I tried when i was younger, but it was a cluster flock of mistruths and BS, so I just quit.

I've looked into mine but haven't found much even 200 family members later.

We've gone into it a bit, nothing too exciting in my past though

I started to, but I never really followed through with it. Searching through records didn't seem that entertaining in the end.

I know that I am a descendant of one of the French Huguenots, and a distant relative of General Sherman.

My mother and sister have done a lot of genealogy work on our family. I don't have the patience to sort through all the records and piece things together.

From the example of the relatives that I do know, I definitely don't want to turn up any worse ones... LOL!

Yes, I find it fascinating. I traced my American family back over 200 years to the Old Country and my Old Country family back another 700 years to an even older country! That's just my dad's side. It's much harder to trace maternal lineage.

I have and it was a dead end. No documentations or records I could find.

I know I'm a direct descendant of a Viking clan. Other than that, not much.

An uncle of mine traced back one side of my family for YEARS and YEARS. Seriously, the lineage he put together is impressive. I'm a direct descendant of the 19th president, but we knew that before looking up our lineage.

I'm not super interested, and my family is wayyyy to broken to trace anything back on my mother's side.

There isn't a lot of factual information about either side for me. I learned the most stuff about my family tree from listening to older relatives.
