Horror Movies - Should there be more or less Nudity & Sex?

To any Troma fans, you should see if you can find a copy of Teenage Caveman.
I loved the oldschool horror movies, I really did, they used to play them at 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays on a channel that I barely got and I would stay up almost every weekend to watch them.

I have to say though, I REALLY REALLY hate most of the newer horror movies. They strive so hard to make everything as believable and realistic as they can and by the time that they are over I have this sick, sick feeling that I might as well be actually witnessing actual torture and murder. As they say in Shortbus, voyeurism is participation.

A horror movie is great when you can separate yourself from it, laugh at the cheesiness and how off the death and dismemberment is. What is being produced nowadays just scares the shit out of me. Thinking about what kind of shit will result from all those people being able to watch it and walk away feeling and thinking nothing about it.

I voted that I think there is enough sex, but I am going by what was going on in the old 80's and 90's horror.

I think it really depends on the movie. In some cases it fits in with the context of what's happening and in others it's just gratuitous. I prefer gore and violence in my horror movies...with sex sprinkled in here and there.

Scary movies get lame on their own, they need some titty action to make it enjoyable. It's like comic relief, but titty style.

Nudity and sex makes it less scary. I don't like being turned on by horror movies... That's the WRONG reaction to elicit.

Of course, I only really watch the terrible horror movies, I can't handle being really scared. Only good scary movies I watch are psychological thrillers.

I wish there was an "other" option!!!

I think SLASHER horror films need as much nudity and sex as possible. It's sort of their niche.. I couldn't imagine one without It also is nice, 'cause it lets you know who is definitely gonna die

I totally think there needs to be more. Being a HUGE horror fan I've thought about this a bit in the past and I hate that now days they shy away from even showing boob in a horror flick. Sex and horror used to go hand in hand in most cases. Especially in the 80's, well nudity in any case.

I heart boobs and I heart horror so why not put them together more!

I love horror and for me, nudity and sex completely detracts from it. It's supposed to be horror, not porn. I'm supposed to be terrified, not laughing while the naked chick gets beheaded while still riding her man.

Of course, at least if there's a lot of sex, you know who's on the "die" list

The great horror films rarely ever put nudity or sex in it. Only the cheap films seem to put a lot in, probably to sell the movie. For me to get into the horror of a movie, I have to draw pictures from what is shown and put it into real life situations. I'm sorry, I just don't picture being scared and a nude lady running around at the same time. If that were the case, I would beat up all the monsters with the little guy, just so I could watch the lady run around.

Isn't having naked, horny teenagers in a horror movie one of the genre's tropes? It wouldn't be one without the other. But it can get gratuitous.

I like few horror movies - now it's mostly torture porn, and while the nudity and sex brings the connection home for people, even sexless torture porn still comes off as eroticizing harm to others to me. Old school horror can be funny, though, because it's cheesy enough for me to view it from a distance. The original Friday the 13th is an example. It's kids getting killed for having sex, but whatever. Still entertaining and more palatable to me than shit like Saw.

i've never known a horror movie to be made worse by having nudity and sex. no need for it to be forced into a plot...but, if it makes sense, great. if it doesn't make sense, it probably will not make the movie worse. just, hope that there is more to the movie than just nudity and sex.

I hate the nudity and sex in horror movies these days. Any more and it would seriously be more of a porno. I do like how it goes away after the horny couple dies in the middle of the act. But seriously the first 20 minutes of any horror movie these days (like Nightmare on Elm Street or one that has a plot that of college kids going on vacation) there will be like a good 5 minute sex scene and tits everywhere.

As much as i love horror films specially rape revenge films, sexual violence is a norm for them and i could really do without the glamorization/fetishiz ation of rape and sexual violence in any movie genere. In short i feel like theres maybe too much in specially when it comes to horror movies.

I don't mind sex and nudity in horror movies as long as it's not gratuitous and all the time with no good reason.
