Medium Rare... Although the cut really really matters... I'm kind of a steak snob as my ex husband was a butcher. Treat yourself to a hangar steak someday, marinate it in balsamic vinegar overnight and toss it on a grill. Warning! Don't cook it over medium rare or it will turn to leather! But man oh man... by far my favorite cut!

I usually order medium, so that is the way I voted. That said, from certain restaurants I trust I sometimes enjoy medium rare. Funny, but when I want a medium rare steak I also tend to want sex. Partly hormonal I guess?

Well done. If there's even a hint of pink it's not done enough.

On the other hand, my husband orders his steak as rare as the restaurant is allowed to serve it.

We figure we balance each other out.

I too, agree with this.

Well done just kills whatever the animal stood for. Now, if someone could make it well without making it chewy as hell, then I would be all for it but barely many chefs can get it still juicy and tender so I go for medium/medium rare depending on my mood/who I'm with.
