How do you manage anger?

I tend to bottle it up. Sometimes I talk to someone and I feel better after.

I try to keep myself calm by diverting my attentions, and talking out my situation with a trustworthy friend.

Yell at the person making me angry. Although I also yell at inanimate objects that make me angry too!

I will usually bottle it up and explode at some point.

I use some of the REBT tools and skills I've learned to try to stop upsetting myself and work through it.

I walk away and rant to my close friends until I've calmed down before dealing with it.

That depends on who or what I'm angry at, but mostly I bottle it up and wind up venting (in the form of complaining/discussing ) on my mother later.

I used to manage it in a much worse way though, but it's not something I'll go into right now. Sufficient to say it wasn't illegal and it wasn't nicotine or alcohol.

Minor stuff I tend to be honest and speak to the person, but with big stuff I tend to keep it bottled up....and then, well...it ain't pretty. I do "explode" and usually have gathered up facts, so I am not just spewing anger, but really laying into them with damaging facts about their job,or behavior or whatever.

That is interesting. Neither one of us has ever taken out our anger on "inanimate" objects. Does doesn't decrease our stress a bit.

I wish I could bottle up my anger, but I'm too outspoken and impatient for my own good. I try my best to avoid confrontations but if a confrontation comes looking for me, I don't hold back.
