I've been a night owl since I was a kid; I remember Mom giving me kava kava tea to help me rest. It's dark at 4:30 here.....I don't sleep til 2am a lot of nights, later if I'm truly having trouble sleeping.
I try to get up and get some sun if we have any in the winter. Other than that, I tan once a week in a high UVB bed and it made my vitamin D levels skyrocket in the middle of February (no family history of skin cancer, I tan and don't burn, go to derm, etc...I'm not afraid of UV rays in moderation, they help my depression and obviously help my vitamin levels!).
But yeah, dang, I am a night owl for sure. I just bought tea with poppy in it, I didn't know that was available, going to try it in a few minutes. When I stripped a few years back it ruined me for sleeping right. I'd go to bed at 5am or so, get out of bed at about 11am and nap out in the yard or on the beach if it was summer. That way I'd get some sun. When it was winter I couldn't do that and ended up getting like two hours of murky daylight and it really made me sad.
