How much are you willing to spend on a toy?

Contributor: kck kck
Recently, there was a thread on Real Dolls, a realistic toy "partner." There's also the Roxxxy True Companion, a robotic sex doll. Both of these items cost thousands of dollars (around 7k). That's a considerable amount of moolah!

So, EFers, how much are you willing to spend on a sex toy out of pocket?

If my Eleven or any of my Sinnflut vibes got stolen, I'd pay out of pocket to replace them, for sure.

I have seen a few toys that I would pay more than $100. Not many though.

I spend $300 on a ponygirl style full body harness once. That was over 5 years ago and it is still in remarkable shape.

For me, the amount of money I spend on sex toys or "props" depends entirely on the toy, rather than the amount of money it will cost. I've purchased toys that run from $10 up to that $300 harness, and I would seriously consider paying more money depending on how badly I wanted the item, and how good the quality was.

I might have to save up a bit though.

For a toy, I can't see myself spending over $100. However, I have seen those sex machines and would seriously think about spending the bucks for one of those things.

I really don't care about the money. I just care about how much I will like the product. I don't mind saving up my money for something that I will enjoy. So 15 dollars or 150 dollars or 600 dollars, as long as I think I'll like it, I'll buy it.

It REALLY depends on the product itself. There are some BDSM products that I would spend thousands on, like beds or furniture. But since this is talking about sex toys, I would have to say that less than two hundred is my maximum. I cannot afford to spend more at this point in time. Maybe one day when I do have the money I will think otherwise and treat my partner to those expensive vibes every now and then, but aside from that, not really.

If I like the product or it has something I feel is lacking in my sex life then I'd spend whatever I had to...but it better make me scream in pleasure til my throat aches, make me coffee in the morning and call me every once in a while!

If it was worth it, I'd definitely spend the money on it.

It depends on if I got to see the toy in person, then I would be able to get a better feeling about if I would like it.

I'm usually a cheap ass but I'm seriously considering the Gigi. It's easier to splurge here because of the Buyout option, plus Eden Points don't hurt!

200 is pretty much my limit for a single toy. I bought a Phallix glass toy at that price.

After looking at Topco's Asylum collection...I might have to see their prices to adjust.

I, sadly, had to check 'Other' on this one. So, let me 'splain, as you put it.

I am a poor, broke hoe. I cannot afford to spend money on toys. *Frowny face* Therefore, if I see something I want, I have to save up GC's, or affiliate commissions to get it. So far, I've entirely payed for one item with my own money. It was my first vibrator, before I started reviewing. I bought the Jimmyjane Form 6, and yes, I spent a considerable amount on it. However, it was a gift to myself using money I'd acquired from my birthday. Since then, I haven't spend more than a dollar or two for shipping, etc. Personally, if it's something I really want, I'm going to find a way to get it. That's just how I am.

In a perfect world I would have no limit. As it stands now I probably wouldn't go over $100 and if there was a way for me to get a toy for less the money I'd do it. Its either that or use my skills of persuasion to get someone else to buy it for me.

I don't think that I would let myself spend more than 100.

I don't think I would spend over $100 unless it was just a really good toy! Though I have spent over $500 on a "bed" type thing, and over $200 on my liberator wedges, but those aren't toys, so toys probably no more than $100 give or take a few.

I said $100 but I so also need my Sinnflut vibes and my NJoy Eleven as well. I would seriously go without something else to replace them.
I still so want the Sybian fucking machine but the price, $1000. plus is so out of my range.

For me it depends on the toy. For the Eleven, sure, but for some silver or gold plated luxury toy, I really don't think I'll spend for that.

I voted other, because to me, it totally depends on the item and its intended usage. For example, for dildos, wands, probes, etc... I would probably go up to $150 or $200 depending on the toy. Currently I think our njoy pure wand is our most pricey in that category. That being said, I've spent a few hundred on parts for sex machines I've built in the past, and more than I care to mention on chastity devices. Most of this stuff I would spend it all over again if I had to... just not right now because we're going to be broke for awhile!

I voted $200-$300 - because my limit is about $200 and there was not an option for $100-$200. Honestly money is no guarantee of quality. We've got $30 toys we can't live without and some $100 ones we'd like to sell. Don't get me wrong, I'd pay the $100 again for the PureWand and our glass wands can range up to $175 - so in spots the extra $s pay for themselves.

I'm with you on this. Before I started reviewing toys, I paid no more than, say, $20 on one toy. I just didn't have the money and couldn't justify the expense. I did recently spend $60 for the Straight Up vibrator by Evolved. I had the money and I wanted to do it. I can't afford to do that now, so I have to rely on my gift cards in addition to my review items. If I had the money to spare, I would definitely buy more toys.

Up to about $100 is where I go, but if something was really worthwhile I might go farther...but I really just can't justify multi-thousand dollar sex dolls, especially when I have a real partner!

This is a very interesting thread! I noticed most people say $100, and I can why that number would be comfortable for many. Don't forget about things like sex furniture, swings and all the other stuff that is sexual.

Sometimes you don't know just how much you needed something until you have it, ya know?

$200-$300 depending on what it is. Sex furniture or something really unique...but just a vibrator with a ton of functions...no thanks.

$100. It's not really, entirely a budget thing, but more of a "if I spend $100 on a sex toy, I *may* have an addiction problem."

I've been drooling over the Pure Wand, and I might have to make an exception. Of course, there's the buyout option, which would take it down to $75. Hmm!

Well, if I had the money I could see justifying up to about $100-150. As it is I'm pretty tight on funds so if I want something that expensive I'd have to stock up gift cards or something. As it stands now I could see up to $50.00 on a toy. Before EF I was purchasing toys maybe once a year and the total purchase would be $100 and that was for several toys, and then there'd be the occasional bullet vibe purchase for those "emergency" situations! LOL

Yea, for sex furniture or something like that I could see that. But, something like a vibe that I could possibly not even like that much or would break...I can't justify that in my head.

I like to TRY to keep things under $200 but would/have done way above that for something special that we wanted a lot. Except for the Njoy Eleven, I can't see spending several hundred dollars for a dildo or vibe, but sex furniture, especially in the true BDSM genre, COSTS. I've spent very little and got a lot of pleasure...I have spent a lot and got not much pleasure....moral of the story? Unless you have tried the product out yourself, you truly never know if you are gonna get your money's worth. The old adage, "Caveat emptor" (Let the buyer beware) is all too true.

I used to say I wouldn't spend a bunch of money on sex toys. I mean, a vibe was a vibe. It buzzed, it got me off, the end. A dick was a dick.

And then I tried a few higher end things; the sinnflut line, njoy, jimmyjane, lelo, vixskin, xhale...

There are some feelings that cannot be replicated on the cheap.

I still like some of my less expensive toys, still have buy a cheapo bullet or anal plug on occasion. But I've also learned what feels really, really good and what is worth spending the money on.

There are absolutely things that I would save to buy rather than using a cheaper alternative.

And then there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good.

The key is knowing which are which.
