Thanks...I'm so disappointed in the way Americans celebrate Christmas. I'm freaking the freaking freak out because we're traveling out of town for the holidays and I'm not really used to the whole "exchanging presents with virtual strangers" thing...so we're going to show up empty-handed because it's going to take everything we have just to get to where we're going...it has my Southern Hospitality all worked up; I actually feel guilty. And it's a direct result of hardcore marketing. Pisses me off.

I was always told that there was no Santa Claus, but that there was such a thing as Saint Nick, who was a real, decent guy who helped children. So... I guess, always?

i think i kind of always new because not once in my entire childhood do i ever remember getting a gift that said "From: Santa"... even though he came to my house a few times to bring gifts for some reason he never had one for me, my sister always got one but i never did, sadly Christmas wasn't always a happy holiday for me a child

THERE'S NO SANTA?! I thought he just stopped bringing me presents because I was recording my naughty activities so there was no denying it.

I'm not totally sure what age for me, maybe 8 or 9. We've got a 5yo daughter who believes in magic, fairies and Santa and we're hoping she believes for a long time to come. Not just because it's ... more
i Totally i agree!! i go out of my way to make sure my son believes in santa, the tooth fairy, and magic, but because he has such a huge imagination he also believes in ghosts lol but anyway, hes dying for his teeth to fall out because he says hes going to want $5 for every tooth! its too cute! I always tag a few presents "From: Santa" so he knows Santa stopped by because he was a good kid!

I really can't remember. I remember being very little, sneaking through my parents bedroom closet looking for my presents.. Then acted surprised on christmas.

I never believed in him. Yea, I always knew my mom was the one to appeal to for gifts. I have no need to believe in some magical white guy. Plus it's not like things like the news (which I watched daily when I was younger) kept it a secret.

I grew up a Jehovah's Witness. There was never any magic fat man. It's funny because Christmas is now my favorite holiday. I try and make it as special as I can for my son. I don't know if I'm going to do the whole Santa thing (he's only 2 1/2), but I know I'm going to push the love, peace and good will towards all.

I didn't really enjoy Santa, so I wasn't especially bummed. The important thing to my child mind was that I would still get the gifts.
