There were news articles starting in 2006 that said even while MS had quadruple the users as facebook...that they were being taken over. Then in 2008 when MS started to adopt statuses etc like Facebook they still had double the users, but facebook was considered more popular to new users.

They have finally called it quits. They won't be deleting the site, but won't be adding any new features etc.

So this got me to thinking...I deleted MS and a bunch of other sites over a year ago. But there are sites I am on still of course. If you had to choose between the top two currently, Facebook and Twitter, which would you choose to keep if one of them had to call it quits too??? EXPLAIN YOURSELF! ;p

I have only FB, never did MS or Twitter. I still have LJ with my core group of friends I've known between five to ten years and have met most all of them. LJ's not as active, but they don't pull stupid shit like FB does every other day (just every other year).

Well, for this profile, I don't even use Facebook, but I use Twitter a lot. I'd be sad to give up Twitter for my sexy self. For my vanilla life, I don't use Twitter at all, but I use Facebook sometimes. Because of Facebook's privacy woes, I wouldn't be too sad to delete my account if I needed to do so.

I was an early adopter of FB (like wayyyy back when you had to have a .edu email address to register for it. I think we were part of the 100 schools push that FB did in 2004), so that one will be way harder to let go of than twitter. I actually rarely use my dumb old twitter account for more than entering online contests, so I wouldn't care to see it die. Although I enjoy the occasional Fail Whale

Me too! I wish they never started allowing H.S. and younger. I don't even like that it isn't only college students and alum either.

I can find evil reasons that justify squashing both, but I hate twitter much more than I hate facebook. I'm on both btw, I find them to be a necessary annoyance in some ways. I like things about both as well though.

I cant stand most social networking sites especially twitter. Who F**** cares what shoes your trying to decide to buy. If your are broadcasting what you are doing out to the world you are not doing it. These sites just plain tick me off. although I have accounts with them I wouldn't be sorry If they went down.

Can you choose if only one would survive til next year?

I hate more things about twitter and find it less useful, so I'd kill that one if I could only stay on one.

I'm not a big "goer" on either site though I have profiles for all three including myspace. I think the last time I logged onto myspace was like a year ago and facebook, I log onto about once a week or so, twitter about once a week or less. My main places are HERE of course and cafemom. I'm addicted to both!

I had my own FB first and never touched Twitter until I started working here. I'd assumed that Twitter was for people with texting on their phones before then.

As it stands now, I'd only really use FB for my personal stuff.

I'd kill Twitter first because all it is are status updates like Facebook but with even more limited space. And that's it. There's no more to it than that. So yeah, it would go first for me. I used to be an avid Facebooker but now I have to remind myself to go on and post some random daily minutae to prove I'm not dead.

Hi, my name is Naughty Student and I am a creeper...I found out there was a name for the voyeuristic behaviour I had...it's called creeping!

So I love facebook bcs I love creeping peoples profiles, just looking everything up on them. Then I delete them from my friend list. I am proud to say that I like to keep my number of friends under 100. Most of the people who add you aren't really your friends...they just want to have a new added friend to their ever growing list.

I know twitter exists but I don't know how it works and am not interested in it really.
