I like the fan too, even in the winter. And my husband snores, so I guess that is background noise too?

I'm the complete opposite. I have to have silence. It sucks because my fiance needs the fan on to fall asleep. He usually falls asleep first so I'll just turn the fan off once he's asleep.

I prefer silence, but I can fall asleep with a fan or A/C on. I can't sleep with a TV on or music playing at all.

We both appreciate some background noise (like a fan or air purifier), and neither one of us is kept up by a TV or radio - so if one of us is having trouble sleeping and needs to watch TV or Netflix it isn't a problem. We both suffer from insomnia off an on too, which is nice because we can be understanding for each other in that area if one of us needs a little more "space".

I like it but it's not necessary. I usually end up falling asleep with the TV on, waiting for some dumb commercial break to end
