I was in open relationships for YEARS. Most of my dating life was in open relationships and nothing bad ever came of it. I was never left feeling like I was missing something, I hardly fought with my partners, and when I did the fights weren't as bad because I had a shoulder to cry on at all times and didn't feel like I was lacking anything. I've not been in an open relationship. I've had more casual relationships, but not something I'd call open. Though I do have a friend who I would class as having been in one, though she wouldn't agree with the term.
