If your order is wrong at a restaurant, do you send it back?

If it is obviously NOT what I ordered, sure I send it back. If it is a bit too well done, or such, I usually just grin and bear it. I never, however, take it out on the wait staff. I always tip more then I should. Having been a waitress, I know how hard they work, how little they get paid and how little control they have on what comes out on the plate.

I often just eat it. Also, some restaurants are doing away with special ordering altogether. May I mention that regardless of if you send it back or not, be kind to your server. Otherwise, you reap what you sow.

I always send it back. I'm a picky eater, I'm allergic to lots of foods and ingredients, so I can't afford to get screwed over by a restaurant's mistakes.

I'm a vegetarian, so if they give me something with meat in it I'll definitely send it back.

It depends how wrong it is. A bleeding piece of meat...yes. A minor thing, I won't. I worked in restaurants and if it was their mistake and you are polite about it they are happy to make it right (much better than stewing about it and leaving a shitty tip and a bad impression). When you are rude, you are taking your chances and just being an asshole.

I've seen some ridiculous shit in my time by low life's trying to get free stuff...and they succeed.

I'm one of those people who dislikes causing a fuss, and years ago I would have tolerated it, but these days I'm assertive enough to complain and get things put right. If I'm paying for something then I expect it to be what I want and how I want it, otherwise I'm just going to sit around and grumble afterwards, and that doesn't solve anything.

I'll send it back, but I'm always really nice about it. I only get pissed off if the server doesn't bother to come back and check to make sure everything is ok. That is one of my big pet peeves. I work as a server, and if someone can't take a minute to drop by their table and make sure the food is all ok, they aren't doing their job. Also, I'll add that as a server, I much prefer people to send something back if they aren't happy with it than to sit there and pick at it anyway. I would much prefer them to have something they enjoy.

It depends on how wrong the order is. I'm a really picky eater so I make a lot of requests. If my pancakes come out with butter or there's tomato on my hamburger, I'll live and just take it off myself. But when I get something completely different, then I'll send it back. I've worked in the food industry for 7 years and when a kitchen's busy, I understand that small mistakes are easy to make.

I currently work in deli and I know how many ordering mistakes can be made between the cashier, the kitchen, and the server. Especially when the people who are working are new or don't cut it. (our store has a really high turnover rate) I know how hard the service industry is and how annoying it is to remake an order when you have 10 other tickets ahead of you and a line out the door.

So I probably would not send something back unless its completely wrong.

I know what you mean, and I totally agree.

If it's something minor, nah. If it's a major thing, I'll politely ask for it to be sent back

Unless it's majorly wrong I usually just go with it. It's not a big deal to me. Mistakes happen.

It depends on the severity of the situation and who I'm with... If it's extremely expensive or unedible (or they forgot something I paid for), I'll send it back. If it's not a "huge" deal I won't though... Usually my friends always yell at me for not sending meals back, haha.

It depends on what's wrong with it. If it's something minor like onions that can be pulled off my sandwich, then no, I don't send it back. If it's covered in mayo or my meat isn't well done, there's no way I can eat it, so I'll send it back.

If I have to make a complaint, I'm always as polite as I can be because I know mistakes happen. Often times I'll tip more than usual if there was a problem too, depending on how well they handled the problem.
