On the rare chance that I forget my reusable bags, I request paper. I love my local Publix because the baggers seem to embrace the challenge of fitting all my groceries into the one or two bags I have. Other stores, on the other hand, give me the stink eye for offering up my reusable bags or requesting paper. And I haaaaaattteee when baggers put just 2 or 3 things in my reusable bag and then start dropping things in plastic. How does that make sense?!?!

Ah, I would love it if they did that here...

In my area they hardly ever have paper bags. But we reuse plastic bags and recycle so it helps. If you are looking for neat ways to recycle plastic bags and you're creative you could come up with some awesome things! I tried fusing different colored plastic bags together to make a purse and some people do an amazing job and they look so beautiful and unique, but not me! Lol Mine looked awful. Ha Ha. But those are good ways to recycle. You can even get real good and save the bags (we do for all sorts of things!) and then cut them in strips then tie em' in knots. You can make anything from change purses to full size purses. It may take a tiny bit of practice, but it's actually a really neat 'craft' anyways, that's just an idea I thought I'd share.

I usually don't get bags, I'll ask to just carry my items if I can. I've seen a handful of people using those re-usable ones, but not often. I see people buy them as purses, beach bags all the time, but I hardly ever see them actually use them instead of bags! LOl. My sister does though. That girl gets a new re-usable bag every month and carries everything she buys in them. They're a nice idea, but I doubt many people use them.

Plastic grocery bags are banned in San Francisco so they're not an option.

I try to use reusable bags for grocery shopping. They are so much sturdier so they don't need double bagging. Also, the handles are long enough on mine to put over my shoulder, making them easier to carry multiple bags at once.

We use plastic bags from the store. After they get used for carrying food home, we use them for other things.

I live in a very small northern community. We only have one grocery store, and very few others. While the chain of grocery store makes their own plastic bags, they aren't offered in out community. So we only ever use reuseable.

Reusable but paper too. It's recyclable, I put my other paper recyclables in them to bring to the recycling center and I use it to line my bird cage.

Has crazy Portland started the plastic bag ban yet? What if I order take-outs from the restaurants, what are they going to pack the food containers in???

Paper bags. And then you can recycle them!

They don't have paper here in the UK. I carry a couple of reusables when I go out, but when my groceries are delivered, they come in plastic bags.

What if sauces leak out from the containers, the paper bags will be soaked and tear and make a mess!

I normally get plastic bags because I use them as trash bags or bags for carrying wet clothing or lots of small things. We used to recycle them but when they stopped being taken we just switched to using them as trash bags. My mom likes to get the paper bags as her paper recycling bags, and when I shop I'll get weird looks for asking if I can have a few in paper and the rest in plastic. I'd love to say I use the reusable ones, but I never remember to take them anywhere, and I'm not just throwing out empty bags when I get home.

We use reusables. The city requires that paper recycling be put out in paper bags, so once in a while I'll ask for paper. We have a great collection of reusable bags now. We keep several in my car, several in my wife's car and several in the baskets of my utility bike. We used to forget them a lot, but now it's second nature.

I use plastic and reusables. I wish I could find paper more often. Paper bags are great for a number of things.

Remember in school how we used to be required to make book covers for our books using paper bags?

We use reusable when we remember them! The grocery store we shop at requires you to bag your own groceries and I can fit so much more in a reusable bag than I can a plastic bag. I use paper when I forget my own bags.

Where we live, plastic bags are outlawed! We usually use reusable bags, sometimes paper if we forget out reusables.

One-time use bags are restricted in several counties around here. Plastic bags are completely unavailable and paper bags cost 10 cents per bag. Everyone I know carries a reusable bag just in case.

We have a pile of reusable bags we bring along with us. If we don't remember them for a certain store, etc. we'll just use the plastic bags but we always reuse those for garbage bags around the house and the like.

I refuse to use plastic/paper bags as they damage the environment. I only use reusable bags.

I use plastic, I don't know if they even have paper anymore. In California you have to use your own bags or they charge you for each bag.
